Pam Tillis at The Mount Gretna Theatre June 8, 2013

In between keeping busy at Fan Fair in Nashville this past week with pal Lorrie Morgan, country legend Pam Tillis, made time for a stop at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse for a night of hits, covers and new songs.

For nearly 2 hours, Tillis, along with long time band members, Mary Sue Englund and Bethany Olds, entertained the crowd with stories, jokes and of course, many of Pam's 19 Top 20 hits.  After a signed guitar drawing giveaway, Pam hit the stage and started the show with her (surprisingly) only number one hit, "Mi Vida Loca" which led into "Shake The Sugar Tree", which was recently done by a contestant on NBC's "The Voice".

The country diva talked about some of the women who inspired her and did a tribute to Minnie Pearl, "Two Dollar Hat," and sang a Patsy Cline tune, "Walking After Midnight."  Later in the set, she threw in a Dolly Parton number adding, "I wanted to grow up and look just like Dolly...it didn't work out."

"Train Without a Whistle" from her last studio album, "Rhinestoned", got a nice round of applause as did a brand new song she was doing for only the second time, "Lettin' My Roots Show."  The song will appear on a new album, while another new song, "Ain't Enough Roses", will be on "Dos Divas", the duet album she has coming out in July with Lorrie Morgan.  Morgan and Tillis have been hitting the road off and on the last few years with a show called "Grits & Glamour" where they perform their hits together in an acoustic setting.

Tillis showcased her talented band with Bethany Olds doing a fiddle solo before "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and Mary Sue Englund performing "A Lot Like Home".  Englund is a talented musician, singer and songwriter in her own right, and her song, "I Am A Woman", will be featured on the upcoming "Dos Divas" album.

Rounding out the evening, "Maybe It Was Memphis", Pam's signature song, had the audience cheering and she closed the show with a song her dad, Mel Tillis, made famous back in 1970, "Heart Over Mind".

After the show, Tillis signed, chatted and took photos with fans who stuck around and took her time with each one. The next day she headed back to Nashville for Fan Fair to sing the National Anthem with Morgan.

**Side note...this was my 5th time seeing Pam in concert and my first time seeing her without Lorrie.  I really enjoyed the show a lot.  It was great to get to hear Pam do so many of her hits in such an intimate setting.  She really puts on a great show and her personality just shines through.  You can tell she really enjoys entertaining and she is so sweet and gracious.
