RIP Tina Turner 1939-2023

Tina Turner…wow…this is a rough one.

I’ve been a fan since I was a little kid and watched “What’s Love Got To Do With It” with my aunt.  I knew then that Tina was something special.

I was around 13 when “When The Heartache Is Over” was released and I just couldn’t get enough of the song and video.  Over the years I’ve collected a lot of her music (my Tina CD collection is in storage after upping it to digital) and was thrilled when I finally got to see her during her Farewell Tour in 2008 at the Verizon Center in DC.  It was one thing for me to listen to her and watch DVDs of her concerts, but to actually be in the audience at one of her shows…she truly was “The Queen of Rock and Roll.”

In 2020, she released a book entitled, “Happiness Becomes You,” and it really has become one of my favorites.  It’s encouraged me, helped me see things differently and changed the way I view situations.

She was a survivor and lived life to the fullest.  To start over again as a solo artist in her 40s and become even more popular than she was before?  That’s a true legend and an icon.

May her music and story live on for future generations.
